The City of Lee’s Summit announces the next artist reception scheduled for Thursday, January 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall (220 SE Green St, Lee’s Summit). Meet local artist Carole Gray, view her artwork, enjoy refreshments and sample wine provided by Mingle.
Gray attended the school of art at Ohio University for three years, then moved to Missouri and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Since then her life took a couple of different paths and she raised two children and different jobs unrelated to art. Later, she returned to school and received an Associate’s of Arts degree in veterinary technology, another field that had captured her interest.
After working as a veterinary technician for several years, she returned to her artwork, mostly drawing, which appeals to her interest as her drawings “come to life”.
Gray recently returned to acrylic and oil painting. Gray’s drawings are very representative, but her paintings are of a more “imaginary” or “invented” subject matter.
Gray’s artwork will be on display in the lobby of City Hall until April 18, 2011 during business hours, Monday through Friday.
