Lee’s Summit R-7 School District releases 2011-12 calendar

First day of school to be Aug. 17
The Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education approved the school district’s 2011-12 school calendar at its Jan. 20 meeting. The complete calendar may be viewed at the district’s website at www.leesummit.k12.mo.us by selecting “District Info” and then “Calendars.”
The first day of school will be Aug. 17. Thanksgiving holiday will be Nov. 23 through 27, and winter break for students will be Dec. 22 through Jan. 3. (R-7 staff members will return to work Jan. 3 although students will not be in attendance on this day and will start classes Jan. 4.) Spring break for students is scheduled for March 10 through 18 with March 9 designated as a staff development day (no student attendance).
The last day of school, pending make-up days due to inclement weather, will be May 17, an early-release day. Any 2011-12 snow days will be made up beginning with May 18.
