Lee’s Summit fitness center offers dance classes to get fit
A popular Lee’s Summit fitness center is under new ownership and has recently undergone a facelift. Jazzercise, located at 450 SW Ward Road, will celebrate with an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce on January 14 at 1 p.m.
Jazzercise, with multiple locations nationwide, is a unique concept to the Lee’s Summit area. Offering dance classes which provide a cardio and strength training benefit, the fitness center is different than other area gyms. Kaye Lynn Acton, a local nurse and longtime Jazzercise member, is the new owner.
“Jazzercise is the only workout that I have stayed consistent with over time,” says Acton. “I’ve been interested in owning a Jazzercise center for many years and I am thrilled that this opportunity became available. The location and current instructors make us stand out. I truly believe in the Jazzercise philosophy of exercise. We have no mirrors, no intimidating equipment. It is just a fun workout to today’s popular music incorporating dance moves and using hand-held weights, bands and exercise balls. It is a really encouraging atmosphere, and the best part is that you can burn up to 600 calories in a one hour class.”
In addition to the ribbon cutting on January 14, Jazzercise is offering a special one-day sale opportunity to the public on Saturday, January 15 with their Grand Re-Opening Celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. During this time they will offer a sampling of free classes and membership fees will be available at a discounted rate. The schedule of classes for this open house is:
9 a.m. Dancing Abs
10 a.m. Technique Class – learn some of the basic moves in Jazzercise
11 a.m. Hip Hop
Noon Junior Jazzercise (6-12 year olds) – parents are welcome to participate
