Dr. David Ulrich, Lee’s Summit North High School principal, received the Administrator of the Year Award from the Missouri State Thespians at the organization’s state conference. Dr. Ulrich was presented with the award at a Jan. 6 ceremony during the event, held at Missouri State University in Springfield.

An educator for 17 years, Dr. Ulrich was nominated for this honor by LSNHS theatre teacher Shayne Daniel and by several students and parents from the high school.
“The award is presented to school administrators who go above and beyond in support of theatre and the arts in their schools,” Mr. Daniel said, and Dr. Ulrich was nominated based on his commitment to the program at LSNHS.
Dr. Ulrich has served as principal at LSNHS for six years and previously served as the school’s assistant principal for one year. Before coming to the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, he served as an assistant principal in Excelsior Springs and taught in the North Kansas City School District and in Phoenix, Ariz.
A Lee’s Summit resident, Dr. Ulrich earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University, his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Arizona State University and his doctorate in educational leadership from St. Louis University.
“My being honored would not have been possible without great parents, a standout theatre director and, most of all, incredible students,” Dr. Ulrich said.
