Two structure fires in Lee’s Summit

404 SW Seagull Street

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO— On Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 11:17 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 404 SW Seagull Street. An occupant of the house called 911 and reported a fire in the garage.

When the fire department arrived, fire was coming from the attached garage of a two-story single-family residence. All of the occupants were reported to be safely out the house.

Firefighters entered the structure to attack the fire and contain it to the garage. The fire was under control by 11:39 p.m.

The fire caused extensive damage to the garage and to a vehicle and utility trailer parked inside. The fire did not spread beyond the garage, but did cause moderate to heavy smoke damage to the living area of the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

409 SE Williamsburg Drive

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO— On Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 12:13 p.m. the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 409 SE Williamsburg Drive. A relative of the homeowner came to the house and discovered it filled with smoke and called 911.

When the fire department arrived, there was nothing visible from the outside of the two-story, single family residence.

Firefighters entered the structure and found the first and second floor filled with smoke. Firefighters searched the structure to confirm no one was home and extinguished a fire in the first floor master bedroom. The fire was under control by 12:31 p.m.

The fire originated in the first floor master bedroom and was contained to the room of origin. There was light to moderate smoke damage throughout to the remainder of the structure.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in origin.
