Victim identified in fatality accident on US-50 Highway

Lee’s Summit, Mo. – On Monday, 11-01-2010 at approximately 06:40 am, officers responded to the area of US 50 Highway and NW Chipman Road on a reported injury accident. Upon arrival, officers determined that two vehicles were involved. Initial reports indicate that a white van travelling in the westbound lanes of 50 Highway crossed over into the eastbound lanes and struck a vehicle travelling in the eastbound lanes.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim in the crash has been identified as 49 year old Cozzette Latimer (female) of Kansas City, MO. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
