The leaves have changed colors and the cold weather has knocked at our doors. November is here already which means that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. This is a good time of the year to think about those who are not fortunate enough to have a big plate of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy for Thanksgiving dinner.
Every year, millions of pounds of food go to waste right here in our own community. While forty-six percent of food recipients report having to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities or heating fuel. Since 1979, Harvesters has been Kansas City’s food bank, collaborating with the food industry and the community to provide essential food resources to its network of more than 550 charitable agencies. Each week, these agencies serve nearly 60,000 different people. Needless to say, Food Drives are Harvesters’ best source for a variety of nutritious and critically needed food items.
For this year’s Appreciation Day, Rejuvenate Chiropractic Center has decided to give back, not only to their patients, but to the community. This New Longview Chiropractic office will offer adjustments to any of their current patients on Saturday, November 13th for the cost of a food donation. Anyone who is not yet a patient, they are offering the complete consultation, examination and x-rays (if needed) for the same price, a simple food donation (canned fruits, vegetables, and/or boxed meals, etc). The availability for that day is limited, and appointments are required. To schedule your appointment, call 816-761-3944. The office is located at 400 SW Longview Blvd. Suite 160 Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
The reality is that there are hungry people in Kansas City. 43% of the people Harvesters’ network serves are children. That’s more than 25,000 children every week. One small contribution for this event is much needed help, and hope. Your generosity makes a difference.
