Park Hill High School’s Trojans fought hard but was overpowered by a balanced effort from the Lee’s Summit West offense, defense, and special teams in a 38-14 Titan win on Friday night at Lee’s Summit West Stadium. To start the game, Park Hill received the opening kickoff and went ‘three and out.’ Senior Cam Johnson then took the Trojan punt and returned it 60 yards for the first touchdown of the night. The Trojans went ‘3 and out’ a second consecutive series, but this time Park Hill held West to a field goal and trailed by a 10-0 deficit. However, late in the first half, the Titans exploded for 21 points in the final 4:23 of the second quarter to open up what would prove to be an insurmountable lead.

The Titans were led by a balanced attack throughout the game with touchdowns from receiver Austin Panko, quarterback Luke Knott, and running backs Marcus Strickland and Darnay Session. The Titan defense was led by senior linebackers Ben Poeschl and Ryan Hillier, who intercepted Park Hill quarterback Nathan Wilson late in the 2nd quarter and returned the ball to the Park Hill two yard line, which set up a score by Marcus Strickland. On special teams, the Titans dominated as well, recovering a surprise onside kick and also successfully faking a punt for a first down in that decisive 2nd quarter. Kicker Darik Geha was perfect as well, converting a 34 yard field goal and five extra points.
