Bynum Road Bridge over Route 50 Opens Wednesday Sep. 22

LONE JACK, Mo. – The Bynum Road Bridge over Route 50 in Lone Jack will open by midday Wednesday, Sept. 22, re-establishing a link in the community that was removed April 12.

The bridge, which also connects to Route 150 on the south side, was replaced as part of a project to complete a full-diamond interchange on Route 50 in Lone Jack. Work continues on the ramps and westbound lanes of Route 50.

Separating the westbound traffic by building a Route 150 bridge and ramps will improve safety and move Route 50 traffic more quickly. Adding a bridge and ramps brings the crossroads to modern interchange standards and provides for safer local access in all directions.

Existing crossover locations within the project limits will be removed Friday and eastbound Route 50 will be restored to two through lanes. Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. was awarded a $5.1 million contract in late January to build the bridge, ramps connecting and related highway improvements. The project is funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Ramp completion and westbound Route 50 to two through lanes is on schedule for mid-November opening.
