Chay is known for his women’s fitness boot camps for fat loss and has expanded his services into the youth of Kansas City. He launched Premier Youth Training in June 2010 and continues to reach into the community to teach fitness to the stars of tomorrow – the kids.

Camp Chimer is a unique a summer camp to the Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding communities that offers youth battling chronic kidney disease the opportunity to just be a kid for a week and experience summer camp. Campers are either on dialysis or have a kidney transplant and the extensive medical oversight needed for such conditions dictates that under ordinary circumstances they simply cannot attend typical summer camp programs. Camp Chimer provides the opportunity for children who are coping with this disease to meet other kids who are dealing with the same struggles and, for one week, enjoy the camp experience. Children’s Mercy Hospital partners with the National Kidney Foundation to provide the necessary dialysis treatments, as well as a full staff of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals to ensure the campers have a medically stable environment. Several pharmacists are on staff to dispense the many medications our campers take each day.

During the week of Camp Chimer, the campers participate in arts and crafts, swimming, field trips, a dance, and many other traditional summer camp activities. Also offered is Chimer University, which consists of different classes where the campers can learn new hobbies or skills. Past classes have included cooking, acting, jewelry making, self-defense and juggling. Participation in local service projects usually include improvement of the campground in Excelsior Springs that they occupy.

Chay says, “This event is huge. It’s not only big for me but for the kids of Camp ChiMer. Every kid should enjoy summer camp and do the same things their peers are doing. This is not always the case with everyone, especially kids with kidney diseases. I am trying to teach what I love, which is my love for fitness and martial arts to anyone and everyone who wants to learn. I remember as a youngster, growing up watching Bruce Lee movies and wanting to kick and punch everything in sight. It looked so fun.”

Fun is the base of Chay’s youth fitness program.  Chay, accompanied by David Littlewood and Jennifer Storms, accomplished just that at Camp Chimer. Not only are his camps fun, they also teach kids how to move and deal with everyday life since these are life-long exercises and movements. As in Chay’s adult fitness camps for women, he teaches functional exercises and real-life movements. There are no expensive weight machines nor cardiovascular equipment. Chay says “All you need is some proper motivation and the desire to have some fun. These kids at Camp ChiMer will get a great workout and have a blast learning how to properly defend themselves and hit on the hand-held punching and kicking shields.”
