KANSAS CITY, Mo. – MoDOT announced today that it will award a contract to repair the collapsed portion of the I-470 interchange to I-435 West with a bridge extension. Work to reopen the roadway will be completed no later than Sept. 30.

The contract will be advertised today, requiring a completion date of Sept. 30. The department will also offer incentives for the contractor to complete the work ahead of schedule. Contractors will have 24 hours to respond to the request for bids. MoDOT will award the emergency contract tomorrow and the winning contractor will begin work Friday.

“Our focus is to get this road open as soon as possible in the fastest, most reliable way,” said Elizabeth Wright, District Engineer.

The new 225-foot bridge extension will be added to the existing stable bridge at that location.
