Earlier this month, the Mid-Missouri Soccer Club won the Copa Catalunya Tournament in Spain. Local Greenwood Missouri resident Kursten Davenport, who is a Junior at Lee’s Summit West High School, played as defender and mid-fielder for this team. MMSC is coached by Chris Miller, coach of the Southern Boone County Eagles.
This team of girls from across the state of Missouri ended the tournament with a 3-0-2 record – scoring 12 goals and only allowing 2. The team started their European experience with a win over a French team 2-0 in a friendly match before moving to the tournament. Kursten currently plays for the KC Fusion, coached by Scott Barlow, and Billy Goat, Inc., coached by Abdullah Parker, and is looking forward to this upcoming season.
