Wizards Soccer veteran Diego Gutierrez to speak, lead clinic in Lee’s Summit

Former Kansas City Wizards All Star Diego Gutierrez heads up fundraiser in Lee's Summit to help fight malaria in Africa.
Former Kansas City Wizards All Star Diego Gutierrez will speak on faith and sports and also offer a soccer clinic on Sunday, June 27, at Lee’s Summit Community Church, 1440 S.W. Jefferson.
At 8:30 a.m., Gutierrez will speak in the church’s courtyard about how his faith has contributed to his success on and off the field. He will also give away autographed soccer cards.
From 2:30-4 p.m., he will lead a clinic for all ages on the soccer field of Lee’s Summit Community Christian School, which is next door to the church. All proceeds from the $10 clinic go to Nothing But Nets, an organization founded to fight malaria in Africa. Registration for the clinic is required at www.lscckc.org/soccer.asp.
Gutierrez retired in 2008 after a celebrated Major League Soccer career that included numerous awards and selection to the All Star Game.
