Jennifer L. King Memorial Foundation

Each year the Jennifer L. King Memorial Foundation selects a young mother who is battling cancer and provides the mother and her family a vacation of their choice. As many are aware, treatments, fatigue and financial constraints are side effects of cancer. These factors can derail a mother’s dream of taking her children on a vacation and spending quality time together. Thanks to the Jennifer King Memorial Foundation, a deserving family will be able to take a trip to their favorite destination.

Geoff Green created the Jennifer King Memorial Foundation on behalf of his sister Jennifer Green. Jen was a wonderful mother, sister and wife. During her fight with cancer, she continued to inspire young children daily as a teacher at Marceline R-V. Since Jennifer has left us, Geoff wanted to extend her memory and passion to others fighting this viscous disease. Geoff has created the Jennifer King Memorial Foundation to allow Jen’s memory to positively change a young mother’s life.

Laura Murren

This year’s special mother is Laura Murren. Laura is a hard working 31yr old single mother. She has been able to juggle a successful full time career as well as being a successful full time parent. Now throw cancer into the daily struggles of life and you may understand just how strong this young lady really is. She has been dealing with treatments, surgeries and doctor’s appointments for two years. When Laura found out she was selected by the Foundation she was emotionally overtaken. She is so excited to take her 3yr old son on a dream vacation. Laura will be at the Wiffle ball tournament in July. Please stop by and meet this amazing lady!

Fundraiser: July 24, 2010, Greenwood Mo.

There will be an annual Wiffle Ball tournament to raise funds for the Foundation. This year’s event will be July 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Joel Dean Hitt Park in Greenwood, Mo. This event is for kids and adults of ALL ages. If you do not want to play Wiffle Ball, please plan on attending simply to support this fantastic cause. There will be concessions and venders onsite. Any kind of donation is welcomed and please remember that these donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE. The proceeds from this tournament will be giving a family an emotional and financial break from cancer.
