Greenwood BOA to vote today on critical decision with regard to quarry lawsuit, 5PM
Posted by GSDispatch Editor in GSD Online
Yesterday, the Supreme Court made a ruling on whether to hear the quarry lawsuit case or let the ruling of the lower courts stand; which ruled in favor of the City of Greenwood vs. the quarry in the range of $12 million. That decision by the Supreme Court will not be known until next week, whereby perhaps, allowing both sides too much time to second-guess their confidence in the outcome of the Supreme Court’s decision.
Today, the Greenwood Board of Alderman will face a critical decision during an impromptu board meeting to be held at 5:00 p.m., on whether to give Mayor Megee authorization to negotiate with the quarry or to see the lawsuits out.
Alderman for Ward II, Chris Seagraves, is asking his constituents to email or call him directly to voice their opinion on how he should vote. Seagraves has been strong in this area, soliciting and wanting to hear from the people that voted him into office. Although the other aldermen have not made quite the bold move as Seagraves, your opinion matters. Listed below are the contact information for the Greenwood BOA, except for Jim VanAcker, who will abstain from any votes that involve the quarry — his employer. Let your voice be heard by leaving a message or sending an email NOW, as time is short and the BOA will not have the luxury to speak with everyone.
