Faith Taylor owns As Time Goes By with her husband of 34 years, Greg

Fascinated with antiques, passionate about supporting local artisans, and eager to be involved in the community, Faith and Greg Taylor are a welcome addition to Greenwood, Mo. The Taylor’s store As Time Goes By, at 605 W. Main, is an attractive place, where “business is great!” an encouraging thing to hear in this economy.

When you spend a little time in the store it is easy to see why business is great. When you walk in you are greeted with a friendly smile and an offer to help if there is something specific you are looking for. The store is clean, well organized and full of quality new and vintage items. Greg and Faith do not limit themselves or their booth holders to simply selling antiques and vintage items. “Our tagline says ‘Antiques, hand-made goods and unique retail, that gives us a lot of leeway” Faith explained. “We love antiques and we love supporting local crafters… so many people are making things these days to help make a difference in their family finances, we love selling their things here.”

The Taylor’s along with the store’s fifteen booth holders have a variety of items for sale – carnival glass, handmade hair-bows, a vintage Shirley Temple doll, still in her original package, candles, vintage Fiestaware, beautiful wooden bowls and handcrafted ink pens – both made in Lee’s Summit, wooden signs, furniture, pottery from Pennsylvania, antique tools, books, jewelry and more. Faith pulls things from each of the booths to make attractive arrangements of new items at the front of the store and she pulls the primitive things to put in a back room that has been dubbed “The Buttery.”

In addition to the store, the Taylor’s have started a Greenwood Flea Market. The first flea market was held in April and the second is scheduled for June 5th to coincide with the Greenwood City-Wide garage sales. The Flea Market is open to anyone and is held in the lower level parking lot. The first Flea Market was a great success. All of the April vendor’s are returning for the June market and new vendors have also signed up. There is still space available, contact Faith at 816-366-0545 for more information.

As Time Goes By first came to Greenwood from Downtown Lee’s Summit as The Bright Side, a store owned by Julie Gilliand. Julie has two young children and felt that the store was taking too much of her time so she contacted the Taylor’s who were former booth holders in her Lee’s Summit location and told them she was interested in selling. I asked Faith why they were interested in having the store and she said “it was just one of those things…. We said why not? It’s a combination of things we’ve always loved antiques, retail, being around people – it gives us flexibility, lets us be around our family and stay close to home.” Greg and Faith Taylor have been married for 34 years and run the store with the help of their children and booth holders.
