Lee’s Summit R-7 Nutrition Services receives $5,000 grant for breakfast program

Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Nutrition Services recently received a $5,000 grant from the Midwest Dairy Council through the organization’s 2010-11 Expanding Breakfast Grant program.
The grant will be divided between two schools – Pleasant Lea Elementary and Summit Lakes Middle School – and will provide resources and support to help each school implement the Expanding Breakfast Program. This program is designed to increase participation in the school’s daily breakfast programs by 30 percent or more.
The funds may be spent for marketing materials, food samples and other materials to help students learn more about the school program and the importance of a healthy breakfast.
