Mayoral Candidate (and unofficial winner) Marvin Megee and his wife Ruthie
Several of the candidates and a few of their supporters spent the day at the Polls on Tuesday, talking to voters and enjoying the nice weather. Candidates Nic Cover, Darrell Grooms, Al Reynolds and Sharon Hutinett over at the Greenwood Christian Church said that “it was a fun day” and they enjoyed talking to a variety of voters. Diane Reynolds, Al Reynold’s wife, told me that what she was taking away from the day was that the people of Greenwood wanted representatives who could get along with each other and move past the bickering.
I made a brief trip to Greenwood Baptist Church where I took pictures of Mayoral Candidate Marvin Megee and his wife Ruthie, Mayoral Candidate Leah Foster, Alderman Ward II Candidate Chris Seagraves and some of Foster and Seagrave’s supporters. It was good to see the candidates talking to the voters. I spent a few hours at Greenwood Christian Church passing out GreenSummit Dispatch business cards. The candidates there told me repeatedly how much they had enjoyed the day, enjoyed visiting with each other and Greenwood voters. We were all hoping for a lot better turnout than we had in 2009. The turnout was better, but still disappointing.
