Join Music Director Russell E. Berlin, Jr. and the Lee’s Summit Symphony for an evening of family fun as the Symphony presents its second annual Family Concert.
Pre-concert activities begin at 6:00 and include an instrument petting zoo where children can play a variety of real instruments, a book fair, an art fair, a demonstration of how string instruments are made, and a magician.
The concert begins at 7:00 and will feature Bill Holcombe’s arrangement of Camille Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals narrated by KMBC chief meteorologist Bryan Busby, as well as bluegrass fiddler, jazz-violinist and Kansas City Symphony musician Marvin Gruenbaum performing his arrangements of Sweet Georgia Brown and Orange Blossom Special with the Symphony. The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Elementary Honor Choir will also perform.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for those 18 and younger, and are available at Lee’s Summit Hy-Vee stores or online. Pre-concert activities will be available from 6:00 until approximately 6:55 and doors open for concert seating at 6:30 p.m.
Because of the likelihood of a sell-out, families are encouraged to purchase tickets promptly and plan to arrive in time to enjoy the pre-concert activities.
Season ticket holders: Please note that a season ticket does not include admission to the Family Concert. Please purchase tickets at Hy-Vee or online if you would like to attend.
