As the election gets closer The Dispatch has invited each of the sitting Aldermen who are leaving office and the Mayor to submit a letter to the citizens of Greenwood. We have already posted Alderman Payne’s letter and look forward to hearing from Alderman Ring and Mayor DeCourcy. Alderman James Van Acker, Ward II will be the only current board member still sitting after this election. Several weeks ago in response to our request for questions to ask the candidates Alderman Van Acker submitted several questions that we used in our questionnaire. We offered Alderman Van Acker an opportunity to address the citizens of Greenwood and he submitted this statement:

“I am looking forward to working together with whomever wins the election next Tuesday. The people of Greenwood will vote for whom they want to represent them on Tuesday.

The people of Greenwood, MO; want their leaders to work together, to be civilized, to be professional, and to RESPECT one another.  Therefore, I am also looking forward to new leaders to work with and to make Greenwood, MO the place to visit, the place to work, the place to raise a family, and the place to retire!!!”

I would like to thank Alderman Van Acker for the questions he submitted for our questionnaire and for this statement. I too hope that the new leadership of Greenwood does work together, is civilized, professional and respectful of each other and the citizens they represent.
