Sculptures and paintings capture the movement and artistry of Air.
The MCC-Longview Cultural Arts Center is proud to present Of The Air, a unique art exhibition opening today, March 17.
The exhibit is in partnership with the MCC-Longview Flights of Fancy Kite Festival, which is April 17, and will showcase artwork that deftly embrace the rhythm, movement and feeling of the air that rises and falls on every breath of the sky.
“What is our sky, but a visual display of the inner-workings of our thoughts and intent,” said Cultural Arts Center gallery director Daniel Reneau.
Artists in the exhibit include: Anthony Baab, Jessica Brackett, Colby Dalton, Brendan Meara, Jaclyn Senne and Morgan Wright.
“Join us as we experience the meditative, minimal and laborious works of Anthony Baab and Morgan Wright alongside the highly active, dynamic jutting of shapes and colors in Jaclyn Senne’s three abstract paintings. See yourself in Colby Dalton’s social ready-made, which draws ties back to Arte Povera. And lastly, contemplate the hopeful resolve in Brendan Meara’s exquisitely crafted drawing and enjoy the peaceful, yet playful installation of Jessica Brackett,” Reneau said.
An opening reception for the exhibit will be April 2nd, from 5-8 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center Gallery. The exhibit runs through April 24.
The Gallery is open from Noon – 4 p.m., Wednesday – Saturday, 500 SW Longview Rd, Lee’s Summit. For more information contact: Daniel Reneau at daniel.reneau@mcckc.edu.
