How long have you lived in Greenwood?

Twenty-three years.

Are you married? Do you have children, grandchildren, where do they attend school?

I have been married to Kim for twenty-six years. We have three children. Katie is working towards her Masters at University of Central Missouri, Meredith is a Senior at Lee’s Summit West and Andrew is a seventh grader at Summit lakes.

What charities, causes or civic organizations do you support with finances or service?

Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Help Humane Society and Wayside waifs

Who is your current employer? How long have you worked for them?

I am an independent contract corporate pilot.

What companies or businesses do you own or hold a greater than 20% stake in?

None

On what corporate boards have you served?

None

What is your educational background?

Bachelor of Science from CMSU

What current or past political organizations do or have you belong(ed) to?

None

Are you associated with any of the current or past Aldermen or Mayors of Greenwood?

Yes. Mayor Rich DeCourcy, Alderman Jim Payne, and Alderwomen candidate Sharon Hutinett

What is your management style?

Direct, to the point and then let’s move on.

Do you practice forgiveness in your every day life? How?

I make the attempt but at times stumble.

How do you deal with personality conflicts or with conflict in general?

Face them head on.

What are your professional qualifications for the office you seek?

Actively involved with the community and Politics since 1999.

What is your agenda/platform?

To continue to keep the quarry trucks off of Greenwood streets, procuring the financial settlement from Hunt, Martin Marietta materials and take the settlement to invest in Greenwood streets and infrastructure.

What do you think the biggest challenge Greenwood faces is?

The litigation with the quarry and their determination to financially bankrupt Greenwood through continuing lawsuits.

What do you think our city’s focus should be for the next two years?

Having a unified board that will put the citizens of Greenwood ahead of big business and outside interests.

What are your top three priorities, goals to see accomplished if you are elected to office?

Keeping gravel trucks off of Greenwood streets.

Moving forward with the reconstruction of Hamblen and Gambrell streets.

Rehabilitating the Southwest drainage creek.

Of those three priorities – what is your #1 priority for 2010?

The litigation with Hunt, Martin, materials and their quarry to the South of town.

Like the National Economy, our City economy has faltered; what plans do you have to make Greenwood thrive again?

We need an Economic Development Team with a true vision to market Greenwood for future business owners.

What tough budget decisions do you feel need to be made in order to keep Greenwood running on a positive budget with the income the city currently has (not counting the jury award of 11.9 million)?

There is no hiding the fact due to the litigation and the quarry publicly stating “we will litigate Greenwood into bankruptcy” that Greenwood is nearing the point of insolvency.

It is also a fact the litigation is past the point of no return. If the new board determines to abate the litigation and forgo the financial settlement this will place Greenwood into a no win situation. I would surmise that if we drop the litigation and the monetary jury award,

We will then be handed a invoice from the law firm that we can not afford and the gravel trucks will again be rumbling through our community.

What plans do you have to bring new business into Greenwood?

This topic has been discussed for many years. Having available land and the population to support new business is the actual question. Again I would suggest a strong and viable EDC should be placed in charge of attracting new business.

What types of businesses would you like to see in Greenwood?

Auto parts store, restaurants, Doctors offices, and small retail.

What plans do you have to make our city safer?

The hiring of additional officers with increased patrolling of city streets.

What resolution would you like to see to the issue of the Quarry and it’s traffic and the use of our city streets?

My resolve is to keep Gravel hauling trucks off of any Greenwood street.

What plans do you have to address the storm water issues our city is still facing or do you feel that the current plans are addressing those issues?

Moving forward with Alderman Payne’s suggestion of a sewer use fee to fund the rehabilitation of the SW drainage way.

What do you propose to do with the parking issue or parking ordinance here in Greenwood?

Reconsider the ordinance, which was originally suggested by the Police dept.

What other improvements would you like to see in our community?

Street improvement through-out the community. The addition of sidewalks and the reconstruction of Hamblin and Gambrell.

Now that the appeals process is done and the city has been awarded the $11.9 million, what would you like to do with that money?

Retire the debt owed to Bryan Cave law firm. Moving forward with the Hamblin and Gambrel road improvement project. The reconstruction of the SW drainage way.

Placing monies into funds for future litigation and setting aside additional monies for financially security of the community.

What is your opinion of the current political situation in Greenwood?

I think most citizens are aware of the enmity of Greenwood politics. It is easy to sit on the outside and judge the actions of the board. I have been involved for over ten years in trying to make this town a better place to live. There has been and continues to be outside influences that places their interest ahead of the community.

What do you propose to improve the atmosphere at City Hall or how are you going to bring Greenwood together politically?

This is a difficult question to answer and I cannot offer an answer. Multiple personalities have varied opinions. There is no quick and easy panacea.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

My focus while serving this community for the last ten years has been the citizens of this community. I will not cater or answer to outside interests who place their profitability ahead of this community. Families, quality of life, and property value is what drives me to be a civic servant for the residents of Greenwood.
