The Lee’s Summit West High School Westside Girls Dance Team recently won the Missouri State Dance Team Championship for Class 4A. The Westside Girls placed first in 4A Jazz and second in 4A Hip Hop for an overall first-place 4A Championship.

The Lee’s Summit West Westside Girls Dance Team was also host to the Missouri State Dance Team Competition held at Lee’s Summit High School on Feb. 27. More than 90 teams from throughout the state attended the event. Local sponsors of the event were Freestyle Graphics, HyVee on Ward Road, Here’s Your Scoop, Westside Grill, Pediatrics Preferred, Facial Spectrum, Beauty Brands, Merle Nunemaker, Saladino Mechanics and Price Chopper.

The Westside Girls head coach is Veronica Scott, and assistant coaches are Kristin Moore, Cara Keeble and Julie Castleman. Captains are Hayley Wagner and Elisa Saladino. Other team members include Olivia Roberts, Payton Lyon, Kelsey Burd, Raegan Wagner, Megan Mitsopolous, Maddie Howard, Allie Gossage, Morgan Smythia, Kelsey May, Lauren Brady, Kayla Nunemaker, Haylee Lewis, Hayley Wagner, Elisa Saladino, Jessica Noe,Allison McAnulty and Abby Jewell.
