Community Fundraiser for Lindsey Morris, Wed. Mar. 24th

Many of our readers know Lindsey Morris. As with many of the young people employed in a service industry, they’re familiar to us even though we may not know them well. Lindsey is one such young woman. If you shop Hy-Vee at 291 & Langsford, you may have encountered the beautiful young lady at one of the registers. She’s not working there currently, she’s taking time off to deal with the latest challenge in her life, a brain tumor. Just over a decade ago, Lindsey fought her first brain tumor and won.

Now she has another and plans to beat this one as well — despite the prognoses from her doctors.

The courageous young lady has her family, friends, community and also God. She’s not shy about sharing her faith on her blog. One of her listed scriptures might seem a little dire on the surface considering the circumstances: Revelation 21:4 (KJV) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. But the scripture describes a place we can assume is Heaven where many worldly worries are left behind.

Hy-Vee is a big part of Lindsey’s life. She’s worked there for 7 years. Her fiance also proposed to her in the store.

There is a community fundraiser planned for Lindsey on March 24th at the Hy-Vee on Langsford Rd. Pasta plates will be served from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM for $5 each. The Dispatch will be there and we challenge our readers to come out for dinner at Hy-Vee.

You can also follow Lindsey’s blog entries at http://lindseymmorris.blogspot.com/ where she has a bucket list:

Dr. Grandpa Morris helped me create my Bucket List. Here it is:

  1. A Big Wedding, like huge, like 600 people
  2. A car for me & Greg to have weekend fun here
  3. To see a Chief’s game
  4. To see a NASCAR race
  5. To see Dad drive in a race car with a professional race car driver
  6. To take a hot air balloon ride
  7. To spend one day each week hanging out with Dad
  8. To go with Megan to Mark’s business one day a month
  9. To go shopping at Independence Center Mall
  10. Holy Smoke Barbeque, whenever

Tends to put things into perspective, doesn’t it?  Feel free to make a comment here if you can help with her bucket list and we’ll put you in touch with the family to deliver.
