The Lee’s Summit R-7 Aquatic Center will host “Swim for a Good Cause” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 5. Each swimmer attending is asked to donate two canned goods to participate in an open swimming session. The event will include access to the center’s diving boards and igloo.

All donated food items will go to Harvesters Community Food Network. According to Harvesters officials, “Forty-three percent of the people Harvesters serves are children – more than 25,000 kids every week.”

The R-7 Aquatic Center is located directly behind Summit Lakes Middle School, 3498 SW Windemere Drive in southern Lee’s Summit. The self-supporting Aquatic Center serves high school competitive swim programs with opportunities for middle-school intramurals, physical-education/health instruction, extra-curricular elementary instruction and community aquatics. Programs designed for the community include swimming lessons, aqua aerobics, open lap swimming, swim team conditioning and facility rental opportunities for groups and parties.
