R-7 School District offering free day trip for senior citizens to tour LSWHS March 22

lswconstruct7-09Area senior citizens are invited to participate in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s spring community-wide Senior Citizens’ School Tour, scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 22 at Lee’s Summit West High School.

The school tour is free for all interested senior citizens, although reservations are required. Space is limited, so it is recommended that you make your reservation early. Deadline to sign up for the tour is Feb. 19.

The event includes a tour of LSWHS, a cafeteria lunch, classroom visits and a student performance. Tour starts and ends at the school, 2600 SW Ward, and those attending are asked to arrive at the school a few minutes before 10:30 a.m. Participants must have the ability to do some walking within the school and are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. Several rest breaks will be provided.

LSWHS opened in 2004 and is the R-7 School District’s third high school. It serves students from ninth through 12th and has approximately 1,680 students.

The tour for senior citizens is part of the R-7 School District’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and was recommended by a community team.
