A quick start by the Titans was almost wasted as The Raytown Blue Jays tried to mount a comeback in the second half. The scores came early and often, for the Titans, with running backs James Ritch and Jordan Wade leading the offense, both with long runs for touchdowns early. The Titans built a 34-7 halftime lead when the Jays decided to start playing some football. Just over two and a half minutes into the third quarter Conrad Nicholls forced a fumble which Avery Adair returned to the 1 yardline, where LaVance Taylor punched it in for Raytown. After stalling on offense, the Titans allowed a blocked punt, which Terrance Hill returned for a touchdown. After another Titan punt, Raytown was able to get to within 8 points on a 79 yard run by Taylor. Was what seemed like an inevitable route, now slipping away from the Titans? Not if Wade had anything to say about it — scoring on a 70 yard touchdown run with just under 9 minutes to go in the game. The run seemed to fire up the Titan defense as well, resulting in increased pressure on Raytown QB Ashton Gales and an interception, as the comeback was ended. The Titans, now 2-2, went on to win 51-26. The Raytown South Cardinals come to Lee’s Summit West this Friday. The game kicks off at 7.
