Three Lakewood Oaks Golf Club golf professionals plan to spend the day on the links on Monday, September 21 to see how many holes they can play in one day to raise money for cancer research.
Many of those around us are facing the challenge of their lives … cancer. In an effort to help win the war against this devastating disease, the golf staff at Lakewood Oaks Golf Club are planning to play in an all-day golf marathon on Monday September 21st – as many holes as they can play from 7:30 am until dark. All of the money raised will be donated to LIVESTRONG Lance Armstrong Foundation.
The golf shop team, led by Head Golf Professional, Jon Vodehnal will begin the day at 7:30 am and play until they can play no more. “Our goal is to complete 300 holes before we physically wear out,” stated Vodehnal. Assistant Golf Professionals, Brian Bateman and Bill Godfrey will accompany Vodehnal in the challenge.
The rules for the challenge are simple… The three professionals will play as many holes they can in one day. They are asking club members, area residents and local businesses for pledges based on the combined number of holes played and/or lump sum cash donations.
The entire staff at Lakewood Oaks are behind the efforts of the golf shop staff and look forward to attending the event at the club on Monday. “We know they will go the distance, this is a very competitive and motivated group of guys!” said club General Manager, Mike Montague.
