Police apprehend cross-dressing subject
At 5:30 PM Friday, Sept 04 a reader tip took the Dispatch to Raintree Lake due to eight police cars and officers with weapons drawn in a cul-de-sac on the north side of SW Raintree Dr. Residents indicated that a cross-dressing white male subject had been walking the neighborhood displaying erratic behavior. Sgt Patillo was the ranking officer on site and told us that the suspect had been detained and could be evaluated as an emotionally disturbed person. The subject had broken into the rear door of a residence and barricaded himself in the house. Residents thought that it was his house but Sgt. Patillo could not confirm that for the Dispatch.
The subject was wearing pink tights, a white blouse, styled hair, and makeup as he was apprehended. But according to young witnesses, he was wore a skirt and high heels while touring the neighborhood peering into homes. The witnesses also indicated that he was lifting his skirt and showing thong undergarments while fondling his stuffed top during the neighborhood gallivant.
Sgt. Patillo was not aware of any inappropriate exposure during our initial interview but mandated questioning of the juveniles when the Dispatch asked follow-up questions to him. He was not aware of specific language of the ordinance or if the subject would face additional exposure charges based on the youth’s description of the events. He indicated that Sgt. Mike Childs of the LSPD would have a press release available this weekend.
Certainly, cross-dressing is not a crime by itself but this subject was suspected of extremely erratic behavior in the normally quiet neighborhood of Raintree Lake.
The Dispatch will provide updates as well as pending charges to this developing story as they are made available.
UPDATE 9/8/09: BY SGT. MICHAEL CHILDS, LSPD
On Friday 09-04-09 at 4:55 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the area of Raintree Drive and Ensign on a suspicious male call. The suspicious activity was reported as a white male dressed in female clothing acting provocative to gain attention of others in the area. The actions were described as lifting the skirt or dress he was wearing and fondling his chest area. As the first officer arrived the subject quickly started to walk from the area and then ran as he realized the officer was following on foot. With the officer in foot pursuit the subject ran to a rear door of a residence in the 3900 block of SW Ensign and forced entry on the door with his shoulder. A perimeter was established around the residence until backing officers arrived to conduct an interior check. The male subject was found hiding inside the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
The subject, 25 year old Ian J. McAllister, was arrested for fleeing or resisting arrest and over $7,000 of outstanding warrants. As the residence he forced entry was his own he was not arrested for burglary. Mr. McAllister was also wearing undergarments beneath the female clothing which prevented an indecent exposure as originally thought. He remains in custody justifying the multiple warrants with two different agencies.
