Lee’s Summit National Night Out Against Crime Aug. 4th

August 4, 2009 the Lee’s Summit Police Department will host the 26th Annual National Night Out Against Crime event from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. in the open area behind the Community of Christ Church located at 1101 NE Independence Ave. in Lee’s Summit. The goal of the event is to heighten personal safety and crime prevention awareness, as well as strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. The event will feature a display of police and fire department vehicles, advanced equipment, and specialized units for the City of Lee’s Summit.
Additional participants will be military recruiters including an Army National Guard rock climbing wall and vehicle roll-over simulator. There will be other activities for children such as two moonwalks and certified car seat technicians to educate and answer questions. Several area businesses will also be on hand with give-a-ways and safety information for the public.
The National Night Out event is free of charge and open to the public with free hot dogs, chips and bottled water provided while they last.
