Jackson County unofficial election results were released Tuesday evening and the Middle Big Creek Sewer Sub district Question carried overwhelmingly with 76% of voters choosing “yes” on Tuesday.

In Greenwood, results indicated a true display of “every vote counts”, where James Van Acker won Ward II over Mark Dziedzic by a margin of 6 votes and Denise Simpson edged Phil Alvarado in the Ward I race by 15 votes. Dziedzic was the incumbent so Van Acker will be a new Alderman to the Board. Simpson retains her Ward 1 seat on the Greenwood Board of Aldermen. Greenwood voter turnout was rather disappointing though. Ward I drew 313 voters to the polls and Ward II was represented by only 262 constituents.

Ron Baker and Patti Buie secured positions on the R-7 Board of Education by significant margins over Sherri Tucker and Craig Belser. Belser had withdrawn from the race but remained on the ballot. Baker and Buie who each advertised heavily will serve three year terms.

As of press time, results were still unofficial.
